Pork Chops with Rice & Gravy

Pork Chops with Rice & Gravy

This is a sponsored post, but as always the opinions below are my own.

Hey y’all! I feel like at this point everyone is back to school & I have been enjoying all of the pics blowing up my social media feeds!!

I have the perfect back to school recipe the entire family will enjoy, trust me! I get asked all the time on how to make Rice & Gravy soooo I have it all typed out for you below. If you want to watch a quick step by step video tutorial, click here.

For tonight’s recipe I am using 4 Sisters Rice. They are a local to Louisiana brand, a Women owned business, and certified organic. You can find their products on grocery shelves nation wide and on Amazon! To shop their rice on Amazon, click here.

Smothered Pork Chops with Rice & Gravy

Ingredients:

For the Pork Chops:

  • 3lbs bone in thin pork chops.

  • 2-4 tbsp all purpose flour.

  • Cajun Seasoning, to taste.

  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil.

  • 8 oz Cajun trinity (dice onion, celery, & bell pepper).

  • 2 cups low sodium chicken broth

  • 1 can mushroom steak sauce, optional but I highly recommend.

For the Rice:

Directions:

For the Pork Chops:

  1. Lightly flour & season your pork chops on both sides.

  2. Heat oil in a Magnolite or Dutch Oven, add in your pork chops, and brown on each side. Approx 3 minutes per side. Working in batches if needed. Remove once both sides are browned.

  3. Add in your Cajun Trinity and sauté for about 3-5 minutes. Add more Cajun seasoning if desired.

  4. Once trinity is softened, add in chicken broth & mushroom steak sauce. Stir until combined.

  5. Add your pork chops back in and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover and lower heat. Simmer & cook your rice.

For the rice:

  1. Heat olive oil in a sauce pan.

  2. Add in 1 cup of 4 Sisters Long Grain Organic White Rice and “toast” it for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Add in 2 cups water, salt, & butter. Bring to a boil.

  4. Once boiling, add lid and turn heat to simmer. Set a 20 minute timer.

  5. After 20 minutes, fluff with a fork, & enjoy with grave and pork chops.

  6. *** you can also follow the instructions on the bag. I have done this too and it comes out perfect!

As always, let me know if you make this delicious meal! It is the perfect easy weeknight cajun recipe!

Happy Eating,

Liz
