Today we have a new guest writer! My friend Taylor hosted the Watch Me Disappear Cook Your Book night & is dishing out all of the details below.

Watch Me Disappear, our third cook your book and our 11th read for our little book club.

Over all the girls rated it a 3/5. It was a good fun read and kept you reading and guessing till the end.

Olive is the main character, her mother went missing a year ago on a solo hiking trip. They presumed her to be deceased, but nobody has ever been found and then Olive starts to have visions of her mother talking to her and she tries to trace the clues to find out what really happened to her mom.

Since the main character olive was a vegan vegetarian we served hummus as an appetizers with wheat thins and cucumbers

There was no main meal in this book and the main character Olive was a vegetarian’s then vegan so we made some modifications to the dishes.

The first food item mentioned in the book is a Gem Salad, if you don’t know what “Gem” is you are not alone, we didn’t know either, but it is a cross between butter lettuce and romaine. Of course when I went to make the salad I could not find Gem lettuce so I used butter lettuce.

I went ahead and used this recipe (click here) which calls for gem lettuce (subbed butter lettuce), roasted walnuts, cheese, onions, tomatoes and a lemon vinaigrette.

Olive’s dad did make Fettuccine Alfredo one night for dinner, since she was a vegetarian there was no meat but we added some chicken to complete the dish. I followed this recipe, click here.

For dessert we served s’mores, although this was not served in the book, there is a lot of talk of hiking and outdoors so I felt it was an appropriate dessert. The s’mores were made in the oven,  not as good as made over an open flame but still delicious!

Overall we would recommend Watch Me Disappear, there was a lot to talk about during the book club about how we felt on certain topics in the book.
